Mr. Wes’s point board, for all of his ELA classes, is a way to basically tell the students “be good and do your work” without actually saying it. And to make the students follow and actually listen to Mr. Wes, he bribes all the classes with a big party if you win the most points out of all the other classes. The theme is Hogwarts which 1st period is Gryffindor, 2nd period Slytherin, 4th period Ravenclaw, and 6th Muggles. But should 5th period Journalism be on the point board as a way to keep the class behaving along with the chance to get a big party? Should Journalism be Hufflepuff to complete the Hogwarts theme?
The first interviewee is Mr Wes, the owner and host of this cruel point board discluding Journalism, and here is what he has to say, “I feel like the competitive nature of the class would allow them to compete with the other periods. However, I do not think they should compete. I think they’re their own entity. It would be like comparing NBA and MLB.”
Of course we need to have the Journalism students themselves so we have here Sawyer Bushell an 8th grader and she said, “I think to be honest, all of Mr. Wes’s classes should be up there because it’s not really fair that ELA gets everything, and then us journalism just doesn’t get anything.Yes, Mr. Wes is a funny teacher, but the only joy we get is to press that publish button for our articles on the website. But we not a lot of people have that because not a lot of people know grammar, which is sad because they’re in journalism. But I think it’s just fair to everybody because journalism works just as hard trying to create articles weekly. And I think that we should be able to deserve a giant party. ”
Next we have Mohamad, a 7th grade Journalism student, and with little to no explanation he said, “Yeah, definitely because if we wouldn’t be on there that would be kind of like segregation and like you’re just segregating other classes which Mr. Wes is segregating the best class from the point board because he probably knows what we’re gonna do so good because currently everybody on the board is in debt and far in the negative. ”
Based on what everyone said it seems that 5th Period Journalism should join and mainly because Journalism deserves a part just as much as ELA because Journalism works just as hard. Now the next time someone asks for Journalism to be on the board Mr. Wes might say yes because of his all of his Journalism class wants to be on the point board, but be careful because he might say no because it seems unfair.
